Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell which classes have openings?
Click on the program of interest to you and look for the course availability box on the right margin. The box also shows class size.

Why do children need to start Piano Detectives Club in the summer session?
Summer is the perfect opportunity for a child to try something new. Once the academic year begins each fall, children have an array of life adjustments to make. Having a summer start to Piano Detectives Club, our students are already comfortable and know what to expect from their experiences at the Music Clubhouse.

Can a child enter Piano Detectives Club at any other point in the year?
It depends on the child’s age and ability and on the size of existing classes. Occasionally, we add a new student into an existing class if the child has previous piano study or if the child is willing to take some private lessons along with Detectives in order to “catch up” with the group. Parents should contact the director for evaluation and placement if pursuing this option. Of course, if placement in a Piano Detectives Club class is not possible, private lessons are always available.

What if I cannot attend one of my classes?
There are no refunds for missed classes or lessons. If you miss a Kindermusik class, you may be able to attend a class of the same level on a different day to make it up. Please email janet@musicclubhouse.com to request permission to attend a make-up class. Since Piano Detectives Club classes are at many different levels, make-up classes are not possible, but you can email your teacher to request a copy of the week’s assignment. Private piano lessons can only be rescheduled by switching lesson times with another student. You may request a “swap list” from your teacher and make those arrangements when necessary. Please notify your instructor of the change once it has been arranged.

What happens if the Music Clubhouse cancels a class due to inclement weather?
If it becomes necessary to cancel lessons and classes due to inclement weather, a notice will be posted on our Web site:  www.musicclubhouse.com. We usually try to also send out a broadcast e-mail to all enrolled families, when possible. All classes and lessons cancelled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled.

Does the Music Clubhouse automatically cancel classes if Lawrence Schools are closed due to weather?
Usually, but not always. Sometimes schools are closed because of conditions in the early morning, but by afternoon there is no danger. Please check our Web site to get the most up-to-date information about cancelled classes and lessons during questionable weather conditions.

Can I enroll on-line?
Our Web site is not yet equipped to process on-line enrollments. However, if you are enrolling in a Kindermusik class, it is possible to enroll on-line through the Kindermusik International website:  www.kindermusik.com. To enroll using this method, you will be required to pay materials and tuition in full using a credit card.

Can I pay my tuition with a credit card?
The Music Clubhouse does not currently accept credit card payments. Only Kindermusik enrollments done through the Kindermusik Web site (described in the question above) can pay using a credit card.

How do I know which instructor I will have?  Can I select the instructor I would prefer?
Click on the program of interest to you and look for the course availability box on the right margin. Scroll to the final column and the class instructor for each section of the class will be listed there.

Do you offer evening classes?
Yes, but only for classes that have shown interest. The schedule has been constructed to meet the needs of our student body as much as possible. If you would like additional evening options, please notify us at janet@musicclubhouse.com.

Why is the materials fee non-refundable?
We must order materials for each class in advance. Returning materials for students who do not actually attend is costly and often not allowed by our vendor.

Do you offer payments for class tuition in installments?
Yes. We give you the opportunity to make equal monthly tuition installments over the course of your enrollment term.
